Women's Day Celebrations Organized by the Department of Zoology, University of Lucknow
Lucknow desk (R L Pandey).The Department of Zoology, University of Lucknow, in collaboration with the Wildlife Research Institute (EIACP-IWS) and the Student’s ViTALS Zoological Society, successfully organized a two-day Women's Day celebration on March 7 and 8, 2025. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. M. Serajuddin, Head of the Department of Zoology, and Prof. Amita Kanaujiya, Director of the Wildlife Research Institute, featuring an array of competitions, cake cutting and cultural festivities to honor the contributions of women in academia and administration.

The celebrations included poster-making, slogan writing, debate, poetry recitation, rangoli-making, and a vibrant cultural extravaganza. A significant highlight of the event was the felicitation of women employees from the university's administrative offices and hostels, recognizing their dedication and service.

Renowned academician Prof. Padma Saxena graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Monisha Banerjee, Prof. Shaile Malik, Prof. Geetanjali Mishra, Dr. Kalpana Singh, Dr. Madhu Gupta, Dr. Hadiya Hussain, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Amit Tripathi, Dr. Rajesh Kharwar, Dr. Paramjeet Singh, Dr. Ashutosh Ranjan, Dr. Nitish Rai, and Dr. Nidhi Mishra, were present to encourage the participants and celebrate the spirit of womanhood.

The event was conceptualized and meticulously planned by ViTALS Zoological Society, with Mr. Ashwin (President) and Ms. Akarshika (Management Committee Head) leading the initiative. The executive committee members, including Mr. Prashant, Ms. Vandita, Ms. Shruti, Ms. Simanti, Mr. Mitrasen, Ms. Shraddha, Mr. Rohit, Mr. Pratyush, Ms. Komal, Mr. Jitendra, Ms. Sana, Ms. Harshika, Ms. Aditi, Ms. Ayushi, Ms. Zeenat, Ms. Atiba, Ms. Nivedita, Ms. Vaibhavi, and Ms. Khushi, played a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution of the event.

The Women's Day celebration served as a platform to acknowledge and appreciate the invaluable contributions of women in various spheres of academia and administration. The event not only fostered creativity and dialogue among students but also reinforced the significance of gender inclusivity and empowerment within the university.

With enthusiastic participation and overwhelming support from faculty and students alike, the event was a grand success, setting a precedent for future initiatives that celebrate and uplift women in education and beyond
