World Intellectual Property Day celebrated by Council of Science and Technology Uttar Pradesh on 26 April 2024

This program aims to generate awareness about intellectual property, foster creativity, artistry, and encourage innovation. In today's global economy, knowledge and science are central, and the intellectual property generated from innovation plays a crucial role in strengthening any economy. This year, the theme of World Intellectual Property Day is "IP and the SDGs: Building a common future with innovation and creativity." On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day,

the Council of Science and Technology Uttar Pradesh organized a seminar related to intellectual property. Dr. Bharat Raj Singh, former Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department, was the chief guest of the event. Additionally, Dr. Alka Mishra, Professor, Department of Astronomy, Lucknow University, was also invited. During this event, Dr. Pooja Yadav, Joint Director and Head of the IP Division of the Council, provided information about the basic principles of intellectual property protection and discussed how intellectual property can contribute to achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Director of the Council, Dr. D.K. Srivastava, informed that two innovators identified by the Council have been honored by the Government of India on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day. Uttar Pradesh ranks third in patent filing at the national level and second in Geographical Indications. As the chief guest of the event, Dr. Bharat Raj Singh, former Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department, provided detailed information about the year-on-year growth in patent filing in India and foreign patent filing.

Additionally, a patent for a bike powered by air, invented by him, was also showcased during the event. Mr. Sandeep Yadav provided the audience with information about WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and the World Intellectual Property Day. Mr. Radhelal, Joint Director of the Science and Technology Council of Uttar Pradesh, thanked all the guests who attended the program and concluded the event.
