SLU19 v INDU19, ACC U19 Asia Cup, 2024 : Vaibhav Suryavanshi's explosive batting helped India reach the semi-finals

Vaibhav Suryavansh, 13 years old, made his name known by hitting two back to back fifties for India. The left-handed opener played an explosive innings of 64 runs in just 36 balls in the second semi-final of the Under-19 Asia Cup against Sri Lanka. On the basis of this strong innings of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India has now reached the final. The second semi-final of the Under-19 Asia Cup going on in UAE was played between India and Sri Lanka.

Batting first, the Sri Lankan team was all out after scoring 173 runs in 46.2 overs. In response to the modest target of 174 runs, Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave India a strong start. He added 91 runs in 8.3 overs for the first wicket with Ayush Mhatre. Ayush Mhatre may have been out after scoring 34 runs in 28 balls, but this Little Master's bat did not stop.

In the second over of the innings, Vaibhav hit 31 runs in one over to Sri Lankan pacer Sijera. Vaibhav was batting so fearlessly that 54 out of his 67 runs came from boundaries. This was Vaibhav Suryavanshi's second consecutive fifty of the tournament.

In the IPL mega auction, Rajasthan Royals bought Vaibhav Suryavanshi for 1 crore 10 lakhs. Vaibhav, who hails from Samastipur district of Bihar, had a base price of Rs 30 lakh.

In IPL, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will learn the nuances of the game under the supervision of Rahul Dravid, the great batsman who made Team India win the T20 World Cup under his coaching. Vaibhav became the youngest batsman to score an international century at the age of 13 years and 188 days in the Youth Test match against Australia Under-19 Team.
