World Chess Championship 2024: India's D Gukesh has created history by winning the 18th World Chess Championship with his brilliant game. D Gukesh has done this feat at the age of just 18. Gukesh has become the youngest grandmaster in the world to do so. Gukesh won the 18th World Chess Championship by defeating China's Ding Liren in the title match.


D Gukesh gave a tough fight to China' Champion Ding Liren in the 14th and final round of the championship match, but India's D Gukesh won the last game and won the title. Gukesh won the title with the required 7.5 points against Liren's 6.5 by winning the last classical game of this 14-game match.

Most of the time it looked to be heading towards a draw. Before Gukesh's title win, Russian legend Garry Kasparov was the youngest World Chess Champion. He won the World Chess Championship title at the age of 22 in 1985 by defeating Anatoly Karpov.

D Gukesh became the youngest player to challenge for the world title after winning the Candidates Tournament earlier this year. He is the second Indian to win a global title after the legendary Viswanathan Anand. Five-time World champion Anand won his last title in 2013.

In this way, D Gukesh ended a long wait for India. Let us tell you that in the title match, India's Grandmaster D Gukesh was tied with his opponent Ding Liren at 6.5-6.5 after 13 games. It seemed that the match was heading towards a draw, but India's Chanakya, playing with black pieces, made such a move that China's Ding Liren was completely defeated.
