Uttar Pradesh desk Lucknow ( R L Pandey ) . The Department of Chemistry organized the Eighth Special General Lecture on May 7, 2024 which was delivered by Mr. Ananta Kumar Choudhary, Regional Sales Manager(North) –AXS Division, Bruker India Scientific Pvt Ltd, New Delhi.

At the Onset Prof. Anil Mishra, Head of the Department of Chemistry welcomed the speaker and emphasized the importance of XRD in the current research scenario. He mentioned that X-ray diffraction (XRD) is a technique used to study the atomic structure, crystalline properties, and composition of materials. It is particularly useful in material science, chemistry, geology, and physics to determine phase identification, crystalline structure, and lattice parameters. Thereafter Dr. Shashi Bala introduced Mr. Choudhary to the audience

In his lecture Mr. Anant Kumar Choudhary introduced the XRD technique and its important applications. He gave an overview of the instrument, its various components. He informed the audience about the variousapplications of XRD such as Phase Identification, Crystallinity, Lattice Parameters, Texture Analysis and Residual Stress Measurement.

He also introduced the various types of XRD techniques such as Powder XRD, Single-Crystal XRD, High-Resolution XRD, XRD Imaging etc. He further explained the finer points of how to collect good XRD data. Dr. Manisha Shukla proposed the vote of thanks. The event was attended by the faculty members and research scholars from the department of Chemistry and Physics.
